South Africa 2 1/2 and 5 Shillings 1892 to 1897
Wow, Bob. It sounds like you have a real winner in your South African 2 1/2 shillings. These are neat, big, and artistic coins minted in silver between 1892 and 1897. The 5 shillings were minted with the same design (and bigger, of course) only in 1892. The 2 1/2 shillings contain 0.42 troy ounces of silver, and the 5 shillings contain twice that amount.
