India X (10) and XX (20) Cash 1803 to 1808
Cool coin, Jake. These are very interesting coins from the British East India Company which influenced India starting in 1611. The coins recovered from the Admiral Gardner are well known and quite common. The catalog value is about $20 US dollars in average condition. Your worn coin will be worth a little less, around $10. Don't forget that catalog values are inflated values (see Important Terminology page). The one in the picture is in great shape and would probably retail around $40. The 20 cash coin is worth about the same as the 10 cash.
India used an interesting monetary system at the time of this coin. 10 cash (your coin) was equal to one dudu. Then there were 8 dudus in a fanam and 42 fanams in a pagoda.
Like I said, cool coin!
