
You present an interesting coin, sir or madam. It is not one you see very much. That's why I am surprised the catalogs assign a relatively low value to it. Figure a catalog value of $7 US dollars in well worn condition. If the condition were better, the value goes up. The catalogs quote $200 in uncirculated condition.

Your coin is from the Straits Settlements, now known as West Malaysia, with its major city Singapore, on the Malay Peninsula of Asia. In 1862 it was part of British India, hence the bust of Queen Victoria and the inscription India Straits.
