Russia 10, 15, and 20 Kopek 1931 to 1934
Russia 10, 15, and 20 Kopek 1931 to 1934

That's a Russian 10 kopek coin, Will, made of copper-nickel. The Russian alphabet uses different symbols than the Latin alphabet which appears in most Western countries. The kon is short for kopek, a Russian coin denomination. There are 100 kopeks in a rouble (or ruble).

Value-wise, these coins are fairly modern but the mintages are low. Most that you see are quite worn, and collectors will pay strong premiums for well preserved specimens. Here is what the catalogs say:

10 KOPEKS (10 kon):
worn: $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: $3
well preserved (like our picture): $10
fully uncirculated: $20
the 1931 date is more rare than other dates, and slightly higher in value

15 KOPEKS (15 kon):
worn: $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: $4
well preserved (like our picture): $12
fully uncirculated: $28

20 KOPEKS (20 kon):
worn: $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated: $5
well preserved (like our picture): $14
fully uncirculated: $32
a 1934 20 kopek is very rate -- catalogers can not assign an accurate value

Be sure you understand that these are catalog values and not actuby buy and sell values. To find actual buy and sell values, go to our Important Terminology page (link at upper left).
