Great Britain Penny and Half Penny 1902 to 1910
Great Britain Penny and Half Penny 1902 to 1910

The thing that is intriguing about your inquiry, Kimberly, is that you indicate 'little or no wear' for the condition of your coin. That's great. Most old copper pennies are worn to a frazzle or have strong spots, stains, and other damage. Since your coin is in good shape it will carry good numismatic (coin collector) value.

Here are approximate catalog values that apply to all the coins in these series:

HALFPENNY
worn: $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated (like our picture): $4
well preserved: $20
fully uncirculated: $65
halfpennies dated 1902 with a LOW sea level (see here for comparison images) are scarce and catalog at $65 average circulated, $375 fully uncirculated
halfpennies dated 1904 are slightly less common and catalog at $10 average circulated, $90 fully uncirculated

PENNY
worn: $1 US dollar approximate catalog value
average circulated (like our picture): $6
well preserved: $30
fully uncirculated: $100
pennies dated 1902 with a LOW sea level (see here for comparison images) are scarce and catalog at $40 average circulated, $275 fully uncirculated
pennies dated 1902 with a HIGH sea level are common and catalog at $3 average circulated, $60 fully uncirculated
pennies dated 1904 are slightly less common and catalog at $10 average circulated, $125 fully uncirculated

i have a few coins given to me by my grandfather and i find this page very interesting compared to other sites i have been on because it easy to use and shows u the pictures to as their are so many out their the coins i have are all in very good condition including this one. - kim
Thanks, Kim. It sounds like your grandfather was a collector. People who simply accumulate coins do not care about condition, but collectors always focus on the best condition they can obtain. You can consider becoming a collector yourself, or you can pass your collection to an interested family member. My grandmother gave me a small collection when I was 10 years old. Now I'm older. A lot older ... and still collecting! - CoinQuest (Paul)
