Great Britain Half Sovereign and Sovereign 1911 to 1932
Don't use metal polish to remove the spots, Meutia. That will ruin the value of your cool British coin. Be sure to handle your coin by its edges only. No fingerprints allowed!
Coin: 547 , Genre: Colonizers and Colonies

Hi I am sending this comment from Greece and I have an GEORGIVS V D.G.BRITT: OMN:REX F.D.IND:IMP: 1911 without mint mark visible in a pretty good condition! Is it real or not? if it is real how much does it worth?
I also hane an GEORGIVS V D.G.BRITT: OMN:REX F.D.IND:IMP: 1917 with P as mint mark.Good condition also. Does it worth anything ?. Thank you . - Panos
Panos - you can compute the gold value of your coin as mentioned on this page. Whether they are real or not is always a good question. You can use this Contact link to initiate an email conversation with us. If you can accurately measure the weight of your coins, please include this information in the message. Once you receive a response, you can attach pictures of your coins in an email reply, and hopefully we will be able to authenticate them! - CoinQuest (Chris)
Hi There I have a 1930 half sovereign (SA mint - presumably South Africa). Would you know if this has any value beyond its gold weight? With many thanks - B Day
Yes, BD, the SA mint mark means Pretoria, South Africa. Your 1930SA coin is common and worth bullion plus premium due to collector appeal, if any. There is plenty of info over at Chard [PRESS HERE]. - CoinQuest (Paul)
Thanks so much - I appreciate your feedback BD - LEVON

I have a 1911 Georgvis V. But instead of it having the horse on the back it has a crown. Could you please tell me more about it. Thank You Samantha. - Samantha
Hey Samantha -- it sounds like you might have a different coin than the ones described on this page. We invite you to request a free appraisal with a full description of your coin and we can help you figure out what you've got. Thanks! - CoinQuest (Todd)
Hi my main question is we have one of these coins, but where you have shown the stamp we do not have one but is the stamp specifically there as we have C M stamped at the bottom of georges head on the opposite side of the horse? Does this mean anything at all?? Thanks Aleisha - Aleisha
One of the obverse designer's names is Edgar Bertram MacKennal -- if the letters you're seeing are at the base of George's neck, it's possible you're seeing his initials, shown as 'B.M.' - CoinQuest (Todd)
Hello, There I've got a gold 1912 SOVEREIGN without any mint marks coin. May you tell me something about its value? - Tom
Your coin is worth gold value. If uncirculated, add $50 to $100. - CoinQuest (Paul)
Hello there, I've found a SOVEREIGN 1900, and i wanna know how much it worth. - Alex

I have a 1922 P Sovereign as pictured here. Would you know the value? Where I might sell it? - Will Lee
Hi Will - with the P mintmark for Perth, your sovereign is an Australian issue. 1922 is a common date, worth gold bullion value unless it is completely, absolutely circulated, in which case a collector may pay a premium of up to $100 (or more for especially dazzling specimens!) Please see our How to Sell Your Coins page for some tips on selling. - CoinQuest (Chris)
Hi there, I have a 1920 GEORGIVS V D.G.BRITT:OMN:REX F.D.IND:IMP: would want to know its value. It is in a very good condition, well kept. - Noah
Please read the page. - CoinQuest (Paul)
I have a 1916M set in a brooch. What would you say it's worth? The brooch is 18K gold. - M
It's essentially worth the melt value of its gold content. When coins are used in jewelry they are often cleaned, damaged, or otherwise marked up and this all affects collector value. You would probably sell it for slightly above melt value in a collector's market like eBay, but a dealer would only be looking at the gold content. - CoinQuest (Todd)
