Canada Large Cent 1858 to 1920
These are grand old coins, Asher. They come from a time when one cent was WORTH something!
All Canadian large cents are worth about $10 US dollars in average circulated condition and they rise to about $50 or more in uncirculated condition. This is true for all dates except as follows. Coins dated 1858 are worth $150 in average circulated condition, and dates 1894, 1898H, 1900 (not 1900H), and 1907H are worth about $25 in average circulated. Finally, coins dated after 1908 are worth only $2 in average circulated condition.
Most coin dealers pay about one-half the prices above (or less) for Canadian large cents. A 100% dealer markup is common for these coins.
The 'heads' side of the coin changes portraits of the reigning British monarch. George V and Edward VII join Victoria on the Canadian large cent series.
