These large silver coins were minted by Napoleon in varying quantities, varying portraits, varying legends, and varying mint marks. Some of the mintages are quite small, making them rare and valuable coins. As always, better condition means better price, but coins that are stained, spotted, nicked, scratched, bent, or cleaned are worth far less.
DO NOT CLEAN YOUR COIN. CLEANING RUINS VALUE.
On average, most dates and mint marks carry these catalog values:
worn: $30
average circulated: $80
well preserved: $120
Our picture is about mid-way between worn and average circulated.
These are catalog values and actual values will be less, as presented on our Important Terminology page (link at upper left).
