Italy 1 centesimo, 2, 5, and 10 Centesimi 1861 to 1867
Italy 1 centesimo, 2, 5, and 10 Centesimi 1861 to 1867

Nice coin, James. Italy issued these copper coins in 1, 2, 5, and 10 centesimi denominations over the years 1861 to 1900. These coins are old enough to carry a little numismatic (coin collector) value, especially when they are in good condition. If your coin has good eye appeal, like the one in our picture, that will increase value, even with substantial wear.

Most coins, the 'common dates' catalog as follows ('better dates' are shown below):

1 CENTESIMO
worn: $3 US dollars
average circulated: $6
well preserved: $12
fully uncirculated: $50

2 CENTESIMI

5 CENTESIMI

10 CENTESIMI

average circulated: $20

fully uncirculated: $160

Use our Important Terminology page to understand what 'catalog value' means.

'Coins after 1893 have no go-tee.'
I think this statement is incorrect as I have the 1866M and the obverse has a goatee the same as the image used as an example. - Lee/Fluke
Thanks! The page was woefully out of date. The 'no go-tee' was an error. It's fixed now. - CoinQuest (Paul)

Hello, I have a 1862 10 centesimi and I would like to know where to go to have it looked and summed in my country, South Africa. it's in an excellent condition.. please find me on facebook at *** *** *** with further more details to this coin. - Ms. Wilson
(we found you on fb but did not see the coin there) Take your coin to any coin shop. Most big cities have more than one shop. Get offers to buy from 2 or more coin dealers. We do not maintain records of dealers in SA. If you would like to send pictures, we can probably estimate value fairly accurately. To send, use the Contact button at the top of the home page to start an e-mail exchange. - CoinQuest (Paul)

I have one with the date of 1867 and it looks to be silver not like your copper one shown - Alan Christensen
Perhaps you have a different denomination? Italy did issue silver coins in 1867 in higher denominations than the ones shown here. - CoinQuest (Todd)

I have a Vittorio Emanuelle II 'D'Italia 1867 man with goatee beard on front ..on back is 10 centesimi 1867 with star on top with wreathon bottom is .?M. back is upside down to the front. can some tell me if and what its worth my contact is [removed] thanks in advance
The value for that coin is included on this page. The reverse should be upside down; this is called 'coin orientation' but for the sake of photography all images are right side up. You mentioned recently that your coin looks silver - these coins were all minted in copper.
