Great Britain Half Penny 1937 to 1970
If your coin were in really good shape, Nikki, like our picture of an almost uncirculated specimen, it would be worth in the neighborhood of $5 US dollars. In average circulated condition, the value is about $1 or less.
Coins with George VI run from 1937 to 1952, and coins with Elizabeth II run from 1953 to 1970. Most of them are worth about the same today.
There are two *slightly better* dates: 1946 and 1951. These catalog at $2 when average circulated, the value increasing to the neighborhood of $20 in fully uncirculated condition.
